Who is Ubunye Educare and what we are doing to make a difference

We are a registered NPO catering to the educational needs of children 5-6 year old in the township of Dunoon, Cape Town.

We provide a superior early childhood development opportunity, in poorer communities; so that the children attending Ubunye Educare Centre will graduate with the skills necessary to excel in their future education.

Education and Child Care for 5-6 Year Old Children in Dunoon

Our Mission

We provide upliftment to the community by imparting knowledge and skills through Grade-R early childhood education, routine pediatric health check-ups and nutrition programme.

‌ Our Goals

Is to work in collaboration with Government Agencies (Departments of Basic Education, Health and Social Services), Companies and Private Individuals, all contributing to achieving Sustainable Development Goals:

  1. Good health and well-being – To ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for children aged (5–6) living in low-income households within Dunoon.
  2. Raise the quality of education – Ensuring inclusive and equitable quality early childhood education and the promotion of lifelong learning opportunities for children from these low income households.

Our Objectives

To provide quality early childhood education, pediatric health check-ups and nutritional needs for 120 children aged 5-6 from Dunoon Township enrolled in our care every year.

Provide quality early childhood education for 120 children aged 5-6 from Dunoon Township to prepare them for primary education and a successful life.

Provide routine paediatric health check-ups for general health and well-being of children enrolled in our care.

Provide a balanced diet during school days for children enrolled in our care to meet their nutritional needs for growth and development of healthy children.

Promote good parenting skills programme through an eight-weeks training in collaboration with WordWorks, a local NGO that facilitates a learning space for parents in which to share knowledge and ideas about children’s language and early literacy development.

Contribute to research on early childhood education among low income communities in South Africa in collaboration with research companies and government agencies.
